Navaratri Celebrations at Tadvanam Ashramam – A Sacred Confluence of Devotion and Culture

From 22 September to 2 October, Tadvanam Ashramam, Kanjirakadavu, Malampuzha II, was transformed into a sacred and vibrant space of devotion as it hosted a truly memorable Navaratri celebration, Durga Puja-2025 marking a significant moment in the spiritual and cultural journey of Kerala.

For the first time, a magnificent six-foot idol of Maa Durga, brought from Kolkata, graced the Ashramam. Kolkata, the radiant land where Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa’s intense devotion to the Divine Mother awakened countless hearts, and from where Swami Vivekananda carried forward the timeless message of Durga Puja, found a profound spiritual connection with Kerala through this historic observance. The presence of Maa Durga offered devotees a rare and blessed opportunity for darshan in all her grace and grandeur.

Each of the nine sacred nights of Navaratri unfolded as a harmonious blend of spirituality and culture. Every day began with the Sri Lalitha Sahasranama Archana, performed by Sri Jayakumar Ramakrishnan, Adhyakshan of Tadvanam Ashramam, setting a deeply devotional tone for the day. The celebrations included elaborate daily poojas, Sri Ramakrishna Arathrikam, and a variety of cultural programmes, making each day unique and spiritually enriching.

The Navaratri observance was further elevated by inspiring speeches delivered by Sri. Sharath A. Haridasan, Sri. C.A. Ajith Sivadas, and Smt. Beena Govind, whose words filled the audience with devotion, reflection, and inner joy.

The programme concluded gracefully on the final day with Annadhanam, symbolising the spirit of service and collective harmony that lay at the heart of the entire celebration.

This Navaratri was not merely a festival, but a historic spiritual bridge—uniting the rich heritage of Bengal with the vibrant devotional culture of Kerala. The presence of Maa Durga at Tadvanam Ashramam left an enduring impression on all who participated, inspiring deeper inner awakening and a renewed commitment to selfless service.
